During this unprecedented pandemic time, we follow provincial requirements to help ensure safe working conditions for our team and yours. We also work with our customers across Canada to meet any specific requirements they may have.

General Practices

Here’s what you can expect from the Troy team:

  • They will stay home if they have symptoms that might be COVID-19 (fever, new cough, or difficulty breathing).
  • At the start of every day, all employees conduct our Daily Health Assessment
  • They will leave the job-site immediately if they begin to feel unwell, inform their Supervisor, and return home to self-isolate.
  • Employees will follow any customer-specific guidelines in effect (e.g. enhanced screening measures, mandatory mask wearing, etc).
  • Troy requires our subcontractors to follow the procedures set out in this document.

Daily Health Assessment

They monitor their temperature and answer the following questions:

  • Have you travelled outside of Canada in the last 14 days?
  • Do you have any COVID-19 symptoms (e.g., shortness of breath, cough, sore throat, or fever)?
  • Have you had close contact with a person showing symptoms or who tested positive for COVID-19?
  • Have you been in close contact with a person who has been outside of Canada in the last 14 days?

Employees who answer “Yes” to any question or have a temperature of 38°C (100.4°F) or higher must stay home and consult their healthcare professionals.

On-site regimen

  • Prior to entering the customer site our technicians work with our customers to conduct a risk assessment of each building/site to determine the known status of any potential COVID-19 infection.  This risk assessment protects not only our people, but our customers and their clientele as well.
  • All employees will wash and sanitize their hands frequently, and will avoid touching their faces and other surfaces. All field technicians are provided with hand sanitizer that is to be maintained in their vehicles and/or toolboxes. Physical distancing of 2m (6 feet) will be observed on-site, and when distancing is not possible a face covering/mask is mandatory including when employees travel together. High-touch parts of the vehicle must be sanitized on entry and exit.
  • Whenever workers and occupants cannot be in separate rooms, physical distancing will be observed. When an occupied space does not permit distancing, a face mask/covering is mandatory.
  • If an occupant has COVID-19 or is self-isolating:
    • Non-emergency work: will be completed following ULC and NFPA guidelines, or if necessary postponed until the occupied space is deemed safe.
    • Emergency work: our employees are provided with nitrile gloves, Tyvek suits or coveralls, and facial/respiratory protection in case they need to perform emergency work.
  • Work plans are structured to limit the number of people in a workspace at one time and to minimize contact with others.
  • Troy employees often use their own personal tools and tool-sharing is very rare. In the rare case where tools are shared, they will be disinfected between uses; otherwise tools are cleaned daily.
  • We follow our customer’s guidelines regarding washroom use.

Our exposure response

  • Employees who begin to feel unwell while at work have been trained to notify their supervisor and leave the workplace immediately, return home, self-isolate as recommended by public health officials and seek medical advice.  
  • We will immediately inform you (and other potentially affected workplace parties) if one of our employees tests positive for Covid-19.
  • We will identify locations where our worker had recently been and discuss next steps with you, including closing potentially infected areas.
  • Our Supervisor will conduct a risk assessment with our EHS Manager to identify workers who have worked closely with the potentially affected employee.
  • We will identify the tools and equipment our employee had been using and decontaminate with disposable approved wipes or a 1-part bleach/10-parts water solution. Those tools will be isolated until they have been sanitized.
  • Employees who test positive for COVID-19 will work with public health officials to enable the contact tracing process.
